"He told me we wouldn’t last and that I’d be raising twins alone."

This story is published at Shout Your Abortion.

I had my first abortion when I was 25 and studying 5 hours from home. I made that choice for myself and was shocked how easy the whole process of surgical abortion was. I think about it often without regret. It was the right move for my financial, home and relationship situation at the time.

My second abortion was to the same partner, I was 26. I found out I was pregnant with twins.

Said partner and I were having a rough time – he’d just started a new job and had a new-found confidence in himself. He was working late and had more friends and commitments and I was just a burden.

He decided that I would have an abortion and booked the appointment – he told me after it was arranged.

He told me we wouldn’t last and that I’d be raising twins alone. I panicked. I did what he asked. I signed forms and spoke of my financial situation before the procedure. They believed me. There were complications and I ended up in hospital.

He left me 2 days later.

I support all women and I support their choices. When making the decision to have an abortion, please make sure the choice is yours and yours only.

After my experience, I’m the only one who carries the loss. I wish I had found my voice sooner.

"After my ultrasound and she said twins, I simultaneously was devastated and relieved to be getting the procedure."

"By the time I decided I wanted an abortion, I had passed the deadline."
