"We were a newly married couple with the entire world going against us."

This story was submitted to us on Sept. 1, 2021, when an unconstitutional Republican law took effect in Texas banning abortions and deputizing private citizens to sue anyone who helps a person access abortion.

Texas is inspiring me to add my voice on here. I feel like all of us women who have had an abortion should speak up, and that includes me. This is why I'm writing my story.

I married my high-school sweetheart December 31, 2019. We had been together since we were both 15 years old, and we were 21 years old when we got married.

We were the couple that wanted to get pregnant immediately, and that's pretty much what happened for us.

Sadly our pregnancy happened at the same time when the pandemic was taking over the world, and this was at the time when nobody really knew what was going to happen or how bad it was going to get.

I vividly remember asking my husband if we should keep it? It was the first time I referred to our pregnancy as an IT, but we both realized that our lives took priority.

We finally got an ultrasound completed and we found out that we had twins. That was the end of it for us.

We both knew that we were going to choose abortion before we even left the room. There was just way too much going on in the world including our jobs that were becoming questionable, and we had no idea what was going to happen next.

My husband and I both agreed that bringing in a set of twins was a terrible idea.

Thankfully my parents and his parents both supported our decision, along with my sister. Everybody else was told that I had a miscarriage because I knew there were people out there who would never agree with what we did.

I was 14 weeks 3 days when I had the abortion. The delay with getting the ultrasound and the delay with getting the abortion is what made it a two-day procedure.

Having a twin pregnancy is what gave us the needed push on having the abortion. I know it sounds evil to say it that way, but we were a newly married couple with the entire world going against us, and having a baby or babies would have been a terrible choice.

I know that this is a website for supportive abortion stories, but I need to mention that I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and we are expecting our first child possibly right around New Years. It's a planned pregnancy, and it would be amazing if him or her shows up on our anniversary.

For all the women who read this just remember that you should only have a baby when you are ready to have one. Don't let anybody else control your body, and that includes politicians from Texas.

you don't need to be perfect etc.jpeg

"It was going to be the wrong time to have a baby, let alone two."

"I would be a single mother of five attempting to co-parent with my abuser."
